Today we ventured up to the Normafa (one of the Buda hills, end station of bus 21 leaving from Moszkva tér) and thought I'd share the experience with you. Originally we planned to take a sledge but then we realised we didn't have any and as I read there was only 15 cm of snow I didn't think there was a point of buying one. I was surprised to find that everything was white and the slopes were covered with a massive layer of snow and a real crowd of enthusiast on sledges and skis (mind you there's no ski lift or anything else capable of pulling you up again!) were about.
Some photos I took today:

Never underestimate the slopes of the Normafa

Apparently they didn't - instead they chose wisely to practice on a plain clearing.

Short of a sledge we opted for walking in the woods - hey, this is more like Váci utca, where did all this crowd come from?

Luckily perec and hot wine supply was at hand.

After some 15 minutes of marching we were finally out of the crowd.

The winner of today's spontaneous snow carving competition: Cat getting ready for dinner - not deep-frozen mouse again!
I don't know what the snow conditions would be like tomorrow since it was raining a bit tonight (although that might have been snow up there) but it's probably worth getting hold of a sledge and going up to the Normafa.
