Hi,

Badminton: no idea.

Gym: You can find Gyms nearly everywhere. There are less expensive places in hidden little streets or really top-category gyms in molls. I know Arena Fitness in Duna Plaza or Moveland in Mammut 2 (both of them quite expensive but very good, no English homepage though). If you tell me where about you are searching then I may be able to recommend you smaller places too.

Swimming: I personally detest swimming pools (or maybe getting wet, I don't know) but my husband used to go to Császár and was quite happy with the place. The address is : 1023. Budapest, Árpád fejedelem útja 8. (accessable by bus 6, 86, 60 or tram 17) Again if you tell me what district or public transport line you'd prefere I could give you other addresses too.

Have a nice weekend,
Alice

www.badminton.hu home of the Hungarian Badminton Assiciation.
Unfortunately for you it is in Hungarian. but there is a page for amateur practice: http://www.badminton.hu/amator/amatorlista.html
and hungarian badminton clubs: http://www.badminton.hu/clubs/hun-clubs.html

Hi,

I don't know much in the 7th district, but I found a whole list here: http://www.sportkapu.hu/fitness.php

I know Multifit in the 6th (very close to the Arany János utca metro station) and it's not expensive.

Hello Alice!
I've said your husband usually goes to Császár swimming-pool. I\ve been there once, it's quite nice. But I didn't understand why they didn't let me go on the first floor. Is the big covered pool only for proffesionals?
And in general is there covered big (50m) pools for amateurs here? Maybe someone likes it, but I feel a bit cold at outside pools Smile

PostSubject: császár   Wed 21 Dec 22:18

Hi,
I copy and translate some fact from the the Császár's website:

Address: 1023. Budapest, Árpád fejedelem útja 8.
Type: sport swimming pool
Area: 11.456 m2
Floors: 3
Pools: 5 (2 of them are educational)

reach by: 6, 86, 60 bus, or 17 tramway

It has two part, I think Nina unfortunately went to the Komjadi part (the big covered) which is closed for public,

but Császár part pools
openair 50m competition pool:
monday-friday : 6-13.30 10 lanes 50m
14-21 6 lanes 25m
saturday: 6-21 10 lanes 50m
sunday: 6-19 10 lanes 50m

Császár 25m pool:
monday-friday: 6-14 4 lanes
saturday: 6-21 6 lanes
sunday: 6-19 6 lanes

Császár openair educational pool:
saturday: 6-21
sunday: 6-19

Thank you tj! Smile
Now I'm looking for some sport that I can do without knowing Hungarian language. I know the simliest way is to go for gym or run in the park, but that's quate boring. So I have no ideas scratch

Hi Nina,

I find that both running and gym are far more fascinating then swimming to and fro in a 50 m pool. (Unless it has extra features like sharks or piranhas. Very rare in Hungary though.)

Come to gym classes instead. I keep telling my friends it’s the ultimate solution to all their problems - wonder why they tend to avoid me... Rolling Eyes

I’ve put up some links, but if you tell me which district you’re interested in I might be able to recommend you fitness clubs.

Alice
Very Happy

In the past, I also thought running had to be boring. Since started to do a bit of running sometimes, I find it very healthy mentally, too. Try it Cool If you're not interested in splashing melting snow at every footstep, my winter offer is snow-covered mountainwalk. (Sounds weird? Not my construction :pirate:) Take your camera with you!
I don't recommend men's famous indoor sport: heavyweight pint-of-beer lifting! pertu

Hi Elin & Nina, sorry you two don't like the beer lifting sport. It's great, all you have to do is take part?? Of course if "sports" which are free is your thing , then why not try , air-breathing, swimming(in the Danube of course), sking in public places etc.
Hope you have a merry Christmas. banana

Alice, thank you! but I think I've got bored from fitness. Because whan you live and study in Sibiria, usually you're flat-out to do something else Smile))
Well, now I have an idea of doing Krav Maga, the system of self-defence. It should be interesting.
