sunny

If you have any suggestions or specific wishes about Budapest forum you are welcome to post them here.

I can't promise to change the whole forum but I'll do my best if there are no technical impossibilities.

Alice

Thanks green arrow.
At last I managed to get rid of the google ads. Wasn’t too hard actually - just a question of financial readiness. Laughing I knew there had to be some trick in it, I quite willingly accepted to pay a reasonable sum for removing the ads from my site (the google ads never belonged to me, nor does the domain as such), well I switched back to forum mode from the administration panel and approved with satisfaction of the lack of stupid advertisements. So, happy to have achieved such an aesthetic improvement from the price of a large beer, I logged off and, behold, the google damn ads were back again. I logged on again - gone. Very fishy. I returned to the administration panel carefully read the advertisement section and noticed the tiny little word “members” - the ads will not show for any of your members. Provided they log on. What an insolent forum - made me pay another large beer to get rid of the ads for everybody. Luckily beers are a real bargain here compared to what they cost in the UK Wink

As to the appearance of the forum, the size of the sub-titles change depending on the monitor resolution you’re using. I only just noticed that this weekend when I viewed the forum from an old laptop - all the sub-titles appeared in monstrous letters. So I decreased the size to 1pt, now I can hardly read them on my PC. confused I will let you on that the subtitles are mostly there for google - the little rascal prefers to classify the page according to what text information he finds on the main page. But I’m a female thus I cannot simply ignore aesthetic matters. sunny

So please vote, what resolution would you like me to optimise the forum for? I’ve put up a poll at the top of the thread.

Thanks,
Alice

Hi Alice, I have no idea about "resolution" or what it means, how to find out what mine is or if another would be better. Best if you cast my vote by proxy. Neutral

Apparently Im viewing in 1280 x 800! Whatever that means.

But I am using a lap top if that makes any difference?

Hi all,
resolution a paired number, first is that how many pixel (little screen dots) width, the second is how many pixel high is your screen. more the numbers your screen can show, better picture you get. if you go close enough to your screen you can count them.

Dear Green Arrow,
Could you possibly make another compliment on the forum looks? I've worked nearly 4 hours on it, created a test forum in case my attempts should lead to a disaster, learned a bit of html coding, used a lot of copy-paste transport, messed up my own computer's settings trying to view the forum in different resolutions, etc. A bravo would be much appreciated.

Should GA be too busy next morning I'm ready to accept anybody else's admiring comments Wink

In return I'm willing to put up other useful tools or links. Just ask. And show me a site where I can see how it looks (and copy their source code Wink )

Thank you green arrow. This is exactly how I imagined a hearty welcome for the new features.

But no beauty can last. I just noticed that I managed to spell British with double t in the converter (there might be some other mistakes too, I never even heard about some of the places and currencies listed there). So I deleted the extra t-s. Didn't touch anything else, I swear, and by some unexplainable mystery all my "go" buttons transformed into "kérdőív elküldése" signs. I'm only telling you this so you won't be expecting too much from the computer for beginners book Mia will bring you along. I dare say it's a waste of your money and Mia's efforts. You'd be better off buying a black cock and sacrificing it at midnight. Trust me, that’s the only thing that can possibly have any effect over cunningly interconnected electric circuits...

I didn't sacrifice the bloody cock... No That must be it.
Well, there's no way I could mend it now... I'll try to fix it from home in the afternoon.
