Hello to All who might or might not be concerned,
I've got another amazing issue to report. I just realised that there most be more than four verb tenses in Hungarian (the ones I knew about were: present, past, future, conditional). I'm struck by this finding. Just watch:
You all know of course the verb "VAN" (is).
What's the past tense? - VOLT
Future tense? - LESZ
So far so good. Now watch my keyboard carefully, I'm not cheating.
What's the past tense of LESZ? - LETT !!!
But wait a minute, you're all going to say, shouldn't it be VOLT?
No, it's definitely LETT.
Unless somebody can come up with a very witty explanation I'll start preparing my very own magic show where the main attraction will be conjugating the verb VAN.
Sophie
